Setting the Stage – circus promotion of tomorrow

as part of the CircusDanceFestival
May 25, 2023, 10 AM - 4 PM
Latibul Köln, An der Schanz 6, 50735 Cologne

Contemporary circus has experienced a structural development in Germany in a very short time like hardly any other form of performing arts. Through its accessible and non-verbal way of dealing with relevant issues, it holds enormous potential for social discourse and promotes proximity to culture. Currently, the funding practice is designed for model projects and short project funding periods, but in the future these must be supported by comprehensive, sustainable and far-sighted structures.

The symposium "Setting the Stage - Promoting Circus for Tomorrow" provides the impetus for this. Keynote speeches by representatives from cultural policy, funding institutions and associations encourage discussion about perspectives and possibilities for the contemporary circus of tomorrow. Thematic group tables invite focused exchange between actors from the arts, politics and administration.
