AUFLEUCHTEN by Scenic Circus
The circus theater piece AUFLEUCHTEN is the first show of the recently founded Berlin-based company „Scenic Circus“.
Six artists are connecting the elements of acrobatics, acting and live music. The circus tent becomes the scenery for a story about hope and courage, based on real history. The piece is inspired by the life of Paula Busch, the „grande dame“ of the German circus in the 1920s.
Paula has to decide: will she have a secure bourgeois life or will she follow the call of freedom? When her father’s circus faces ruin, in the middle of war and economic crisis, she makes a decision. Paula leaves all security and leads the circus to new success.
The interdisciplinary ensemble consists of actors, circus artists and a musician. Among others, the former Cirque-du-Soleil-artist Marta Bataller Leiva is part of the cast, as well as Kerstin Kaernbach, who is touring with the Berlin alternative band „17 Hippies“
