Die Schaubude Berlin, Produktionshaus für zeitgenössisches Figuren- und Objekttheater, schreibt eine vierwöchige Residenz zur Erforschung neuer ästhetischer und performativer Strategien in der Auseinandersetzung mit der Digitalisierung und deren gesellschaftlichen Folgen aus.

Gesucht wird ein Team von 2 bis 4 Personen, in dem Künstler*innen der darstellenden Kunst, deren Ausdrucksmittel Puppen, Figuren oder Objekte umfassen, mit Medienkünstler*innen oder Beteiligten aus digitalen Arbeitsbereichen (z.B. Robotik, Programmierung, Informatik)  zusammenarbeiten wollen. Durch das Vorhaben sollen neue Möglichkeiten der Verbindung von digitalen Mitteln mit Formen des Theaters der Dinge erforscht werden.

Die Residenz versteht sich als Forschungslabor. Das Research-Vorhaben muss nicht Bestandteil einer geplanten Produktion sein und verpflichtet nicht zu einer Premiere. Vielmehr ist es Ziel der Residenz, der Gruppe einen Ort zu bieten, um an künstlerischen Ideen zu forschen, neue Formen auszuprobieren und Möglichkeiten neuer Kollaborationen zu entwickeln.

Die Entscheidung wird Anfang April 2019 bekanntgegeben. Die Auswahljury bilden Christiane Hütter (Spieleentwicklerin), Yasmine Salimi (Dramaturgin) und Tim Sandweg (Künstlerische Leitung Schaubude).

Bewerbungsvoraussetzungen:

• Teams von 2 bis 4 Personen; mindestens ein*e Teilnehmer*in muss professionell und schwerpunktmäßig im Bereich Darstellende Kunst arbeiten und in bisherigen Arbeiten Puppen, Figuren oder Objekte eingesetzt haben, mindesten ein*e Teilnehmer*in muss professionell und schwerpunktmäßig im Bereich Medienkunst oder in digitalen Arbeitsbereichen arbeiten.
• Die antragstellende Person muss einen Wohnsitz in Deutschland haben.
• Eine Bewerbung von bereits bestehenden Gruppen oder von Studierenden ist möglich.
• Eine Bewerbung von Projekten, die bereits durch die Schaubude Berlin koproduziert werden, ist ausgeschlossen.

Wir bieten:

• Die Nutzung des Saals und der Kleinen Bühne der Schaubude Berlin im Residenzzeitraum
• Technische Unterstützung und Nutzung der technischen Ausstattung des Hauses
• Unterkunft für max. 3 Personen in den Gästezimmern des Theaters (1 DZ, 1 EZ) im Residenzzeitraum
• Honorar in Höhe von EUR 5.500,- brutto in 2 Raten für die Residenzgruppe; weitere Kosten können nicht übernommen werden.
• Prozessbegleitung durch eine*n von der Schaubude vorgeschlagene*n Mentor*in

Wir erwarten:

• Kontinuierliche Präsenz im Residenzzeitraum vor Ort
• Dokumentation des Forschungsprozesses in einer geeigneten, vorab mit der Künstlerischen Leitung der Schaubude Berlin abgestimmten Form, sowie eine öffentliche Präsentation des Forschungsprozesses und etwaiger Forschungsergebnisse in einer dem Forschungsprozess angemessenen Form (z.B. Online-Dokumentation, öffentliche Präsentation in der Schaubude Berlin, Ausstellung)
• Regelmäßige Beteiligung an der Öffentlichmachung des Prozesses über die Social Media-Kanäle der Schaubude Berlin sowie Gestattung von Aufnahmen vom Forschungsprojekt zur  uneingeschränkten, kostenfreien Nutzung für die Öffentlichkeitsarbeit der Schaubude Berlin
• Abschlussbericht (ca. 2 DIN A4-Seiten mit Beschreibung des Residenzverlaufs und künstlerischer Reflexion)

The Schaubude Berlin, production house for contemporary puppetry and object theatre, is inviting tenders for a four-week residency to explore new aesthetic and performative strategies for dealing with digitization and its social consequences.

We are looking for a team of 2 to 4 people, in which artists of the performing arts, whose means of expression include puppets or objects, work together with media artists or participants from digital areas of work (e.g. robotics, programming, computer science). The project aims to explore new ways of combining digital means with forms of the theatre of objects.

The residency is intended as a research laboratory. The research project does not have to be part of a planned production and is not obliged to lead to a premiere. Rather, the aim of the residency is to provide the group with a place to research artistic ideas, try out new forms, and develop opportunities for new collaborations.

Applications are only possible with this form. The application deadline is 1 March 2019. The application can be completed in German or English. The decision will be announced in early April 2019. The selection jury will be published shortly on www.schaubude.berlin. Application requirements:

• Teams of 2 to 4 people; at least one participant must work professionally and mainly in the field of performing arts and have used puppets or objects in previous works, at least one participant must work professionally and mainly in the field of media art or in digital areas of work.
• The applicant must be a resident of Germany.
• Already existing groups and students may also apply.
• Applications for projects that are already co-produced by the Schaubude Berlin are not eligible.

We offer:

• The use of the stage and the small stage of the Schaubude Berlin during the residency period
• Technical support and use of the technical equipment of the theatre
• Accommodation for max. 3 people in the guestrooms of the theatre (1 double room, 1 single room) during the residency period
• Fee of EUR 5,500 gross in 2 instalments for the residency group; further costs cannot be assumed.
• Process support from a mentor proposed by the Schaubude

We expect:

• Continuous presence on site during the residency period
• Documentation of the research process in a suitable form agreed in advance with the Artistic Director of the Schaubude Berlin, as well as a public presentation of the research process and any research results in a form suitable for the research process (e.g. online documentation, public presentation in the Schaubude Berlin, exhibition)
• Regular participation in the publicisation of the process via the social media channels of the Schaubude Berlin and permission to take pictures of the research project for unrestricted, free use for the public relations work of the Schaubude Berlin
• Final report (about 2 DIN A4 pages describing the residency process and artistic reflection)
